Oral Surgery

Allure Dental Aesthetics offers different types of oral surgical treatments, some minor and some major. We, of course, offer a wide range of minor treatments, including tooth extractions. Major treatments make for a much more significant undertaking and recovery process. For example, if you have a “Gummy Smile,” the gums can be contoured to complement the smile, making for a less significant gumline. Contouring your gums exposes your teeth, creating a more beautiful smile with less gum tissue. The best part is that our laser technology makes this procedure quick, painless, and less invasive. Once treatment is complete, the results are immediate; after a few days, your gums look perfectly natural.

Dr. Ashley and her team try to avoid more significant Oral Surgery through persistent General and Preventative Dentistry. However, there comes a point when surgical intervention becomes our only option. Gums can break down to the point where they cannot regenerate and become healthy again—this is a condition known as gum recession. When the gums start to recede, Dr. Keen-Ramirez will refer you to a trusted Periodontist who will take samples of your live tissue, fix it to your gums, and grow that new tissue in the damaged area to create new gums—this is called gum grafting.

A similar treatment to gum grafting can happen with the jaw bone through bone grafting! Portions of bone in the mouth can be affected by advanced stages of dental decay or periodontal disease, causing them to become weak and break down. If this happens, we can take samples of your bone, attach it to the affected area, and allow that area to re-grow and repair itself.
